Facility Manager

Office: (605) 371-1597

Harlan grew up in Rock Valley, Iowa and married Jan Bakker in 1976.  They have two married children, Jesse and Erin, who both live in Sioux Falls. They have seven grandchildren. They moved to Grand Rapids, MI for four years while Harlan completed his Paramedic training and worked full time there with Mercy Ambulance.

In 1984, they moved to Sioux Falls, where Harlan began working for Sioux Falls Ambulance. After 20 years riding in the back of ambulances, Harlan moved over to a fire truck. For the past 13 years he has worked full time with Sioux Falls Fire Rescue as a firefighter/paramedic.

Harlan and Jan have attended Shalom for 31 years. Having grown up in a home that your father builds houses for a living, caring for the church building, its contents and the property seems like a great fit.

Jet skiing is Harlan's favorite hobby, along with small carpenter projects. He is very excited to be working with a great group of men and women on the Facility Team who care for this wonderful facility.

Office: (605) 371-1597

Danielle was raised in Rapid City, South Dakota. She graduated from Black Hills University in 2006 with a Bachelor Degree in K-5 Elementary Education. Danielle taught first grade for 7 years. During these years, she met and married Tyler and became a step mom of two wonderful children, Brenden and Peyton. Tyler and Danielle lived in Spearfish, SD for four years. She continued her education and received her Master Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, giving her the ability to be a Reading Specialist. Along this journey, Tyler and Danielle had two children, Gracie and Taetum. Danielle has been a stay at home mom for the past five years. Staying at home has allowed her to raise her daughters and grow in her faith.

In 2013, Tyler and Danielle took the opportunity to move to Sioux Falls to be closer to their oldest children. Danielle has been a children's leader for Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) the past three years. At BSF, Danielle was able to teach children main truths about God and grow with her own children together in their faith. Danielle enjoys reading, running half marathons, and spending time with family and friends.

Danielle loves teaching children and studying the word of God. Together these passions have grown into a desire for not only teaching her own children but teaching other children as well about God's love and what it means to have a relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Danielle looks forward to getting to know the children of Shalom, praying specifically for them, and coming alongside them in their journey of faith. She is excited to get to know the members of Shalom as well; to learn and utilize their talents to help teach, inspire, and motivate the children of Shalom.
