Friendship Class
Friendship Class is a worship hour for individuals with intellectual or physical challenges held on Mondays from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. from October to April. Anyone with a love for Jesus and a desire to make a new friend is welcome to join as a mentor to spend an hour together in praise and worship, a lesson, and craft time. This long-time outreach, part of Friendship Ministries International, is supported by members of Shalom, First Christian Reformed Church, and Augustana College. You can see images from the 2012-2013 session here.
Coffee Break
Coffee Break is a Bible study for women of all ages that meets on Tuesday mornings. All women of the church are invited to join and bring a friend!. Together let us discover God’s faithfulness and grace through this ministry. Children also will be involved with a Bible story, craft, and snack time with other children their age.
Mission Trips
Shalom CRC partners with denominational agencies in order to annually send a team to the Dominican Republic, beginning in 2011. This team supports fellow Christians there through construction projects and ministers to the people of the Dominican Republic through a medical mission as well. In addition to this congregational effort, we encourage our members to participate in short- and long-term missions individually with both prayer and financial support.
Local Missions
Shalom assists with the Furniture Mission here in Sioux Falls on a monthly basis. We also assist at the Banquet, a ministry that provides meals to poor and indigent citizens. In addition, we encourage our members to support Cornerstone Prison Church and assist our associate pastor, Rev. Steve Moerman, in the ministry at the South Dakota State Penitentiary here.
